The modular spreader beams from OX & RUD Lifting Solutions are adjustable and can achieve spans of up to 36 m thanks to variable strut lengths and are suitable for loads of 2 to 1,350 t. Modular spreader beams with a capacity of 9 to 600 t and a length of between 1 and 30 m are in stock and can therefore be delivered at short notice (subject to prior sale).
All standard models from the OX-SB 9 to the OX-SB 1350 have DNV-GL type approval.
Each component is provided with a nameplate so that it can be assigned quickly and safely. The load capacities at different lengths are detailed in the user manual.
Advantages of a modular spreader beam
There are numerous benefits to using modular spreader beams. We have therefore briefly summarized the main arguments for you here:
Configuration options
The modular spreader beams from OX Worldwide can be used in different configuration options:
Due to the flexible customization options, you can use the modular spreader beams from OX & RUD Lifting Solutions for a wide variety of loads, such as lifting containers, boats or silos.
The modular spreader beams can be used as a cascade, hanging one above the others, to reach four or more anchor points. Depending on the arrangement of the spreaders, these lifting points can be on a line or in the respective corners.
For even more flexibility, the modular spreader beams can be expanded since 2022 with a telescopic strut, which can be adjusted in length without losing its load-bearing capacity.
Properties of modular spreader beams
Structural steel and steel with a high elastic limit are used to produce the spreader beams. These are optionally available with a 3.1. Material certificate.
Finish:
- The primer of the products consists of sandblasting Sa 2.5 in accordance with ISO 8501-1.
- This is followed by a layer of epoxy zinc phosphate primer with a thickness of 50 µm.
- The finish is completed with two layers of polyurethane enamel paint RAL 2004.
- Painting in your company color is possible on request, but with longer delivery times.
- Further options upon request.
Additional options:
- So-called cone adapters can be used for long but light loads. This allows a spreader beam to be used beyond its maximum length and reduces the size and cost of end pieces, drop links and shackles. You can find information about this below.
Certification – Modular Spreader Beams
The company OX & RUD Lifting Solutions is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 3834-2 certified. The following guidelines are used for design and production:
- The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EG
- The EN ISO 12100: 2012; Safety of machines – general design principles – risk assessment and risk reduction
- The EN 13155:2004+A2:2009; Cranes – Safety – Loose lifting devices
- The EN ISO 3834-2:2006; Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials – Part 2: Comprehensive quality requirements
The standard versions of the modular spreader beams have DNV-GL type approval. This includes:
- DNV GL standard DNVGL-ST-0378 Standard for offshore and platform lifting appliances
- DNV GL standard DNVGL-ST-0377 Standard for shipboard lifting
Information about the sling angle
The sling angle influences the required sling length and the load capacity of the modular spreader beam. In general, it should be noted that the angle of the upper sling ropes must never be greater than 45°. For information, the manufacturer has created the following graphics:
Sling angle of 20°
B = X x 1.46
C = X x 1.37
Sling angle of 30°
B = X = 30°
C = X x 0.87
Sling angle of 45°
B = X x 0.71
C = X x 0.50
Important notes:
- Slings and shackles should never come into direct contact with the spreader beam. Be sure to maintain a sufficient distance between them!
- The attachment angle of the lower slings must not exceed -6°/+6° at any time!

Spreader Beams – Delivery Program
You can easily find out which modular spreader beams fit from the load capacity and span table. Finding the right spreader beam model for a regular lifting process is very easy: first select the required load capacity and then the required span, and you will receive the variant that best suits your current project.
Please ensure that the capacity limits are adhered to. If the weight to be transported is at a limit, it is advisable to select the higher category and therefore the more stable model. If the nominal load capacity is exceeded, occupational safety is no longer guaranteed.
We would also be happy to advise you on more complicated lifting processes. These could be, for example:
- Loads with a shifted center of gravity
- Loads with more than two lifting points
- A spatially limited lifting environment
Load capacity vs. Span / Sling angle 30°
Standard spreader beams up to 170 t
Load capacity vs. Span / Sling angle 30°
Standard spreader beams up to 1,350 t
By clicking on the tables you can see exactly for each model type how the load-bearing capacity of the modular spreader beams changes due to the sling angle and span.
Cone adapter for modular spreader beams from OX & RUD Lifting Solutions
Do you need to lift a very long but not very heavy load? – The cone adapters for modular spreader beams from OX & RUD Lifting Solutions are the solution here.
The cone adapters are placed between the end unit and the outer strut. In this way it is possible to combine the struts of a larger assembly with end pieces of a smaller assembly (with the correspondingly smaller drop links and shackles). The struts themselves therefore have a higher load capacity than the end units used. These “actually oversized struts” are then used to achieve the length that corresponds to this assembly, which could not have been achieved with the smaller end units and drop links.
This allows the user to use the existing spreader beam with a larger span without having to enlarge the complete beam model in terms of the end units, drop links and shackles.
This saves enormous costs and weight. With the appropriate lighter slings, easier and faster handling is possible.
Advantages of the cone adapters
The advantages of using cone adapters are briefly summarized:
Features of the cone adapters
As with the spreader beams from OX & RUD Lifting Solutions, structural steel and steel with a high elastic limit are used to manufacture the cone adapters.
The maximum possible length depends on the model type of struts. However, the maximum load capacity depends on the properties of the end units. For example, when using cone adapters of type 110/50, the nominal load capacity table for the modular spreader beam looks as follows:
